About The Royal Theatre

The Royal Theatre Thousand Islands is an exciting new addition to the performing arts landscape of Eastern Ontario. Founded and federally registered in 2013, this intimate theatre is located on downtown King Street in the picturesque town of Gananoque, Ontario.

Built in 1930 by the Delaney family as a vaudeville house, this unusual poured-concrete structure was one of the first fireproof buildings constructed in North America. The Great Depression slowed the family's progress on their new theatre venture; however, it was not until 1937 that the doors were opened to the public. The venue hosted live acts and popular movies until 1960, when it was converted to a bowling alley.

The Royal Theatre Thousand Islands looks forward to sharing new performance offerings with patrons of the Eastern Ontario region. We welcome your feedback and suggestions. Please use our Contact Us page to tell us what we’re doing right or what we can improve on.
